Splash into Science Snorkel Tour at The Meadows Center
An event every week that begins at 8:30 am on Sunday, repeating until August 30, 2026

Explore the crystal-clear, spring-fed waters of Spring Lake during the Splash into Science Snorkel Tour, a guided experience through the headwaters of the San Marcos River. Participants can learn about the unique history and habitat of Spring Lake before exploring the San Marcos Springs, including Deep Hole, Cream of Wheat Springs, and the Ossified Forest. The ecosystem is home to seven endangered and threatened species and maintains a constant 72°F water temperature.
Upcoming tours are scheduled for Sundays, August 16, August 23 and 30, from 8:30 am to 10 am. The cost is $45 per person, with a $5 discount available to Texas State University students, faculty and staff, and military personnel when booking by email. All snorkeling equipment is provided, and on-water time is up to 50 minutes.
Participants must be swimmers ages 12 and older who are comfortable in deep water and have snorkeling experience. Life jackets must be worn at all times, and participants must arrive wearing a clean, washed swimsuit to help prevent the spread of invasive species. Tours are limited to two to eight participants.
The Splash into Science Snorkel Tour meets at The Meadows Center Glass Bottom Boat Tours, 201 San Marcos Springs Dr., San Marcos, TX 78666. Visitors parking at The Meadows Center from Monday at 8 am through Friday at 5 pm must display a parking permit; one-day temporary permits are available for $3 at the parking lot kiosk.
