Thankful Turkey 5K & Kids Run at First Baptist Church on McCarty

The 23rd Annual Thankful Turkey 5K & Kids Run returns to San Marcos on Saturday, November 21, at First Baptist Church on McCarty. Hosted by the Bluebonnet Lions Club, this community race combines Thanksgiving fun with a charitable mission, with proceeds benefiting local and Lions’ charities and youth programs.

Race day begins with late registration and packet pickup at 8 am, followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 am and the Kids Run at 9:45 am. The 5K follows a rolling out-and-back course along McCarty Lane, while the Kids Run takes place in the church parking lot. All Kids Run finishers receive an award.

The 5K entry fee is $40 from November 15 through race day, while the Kids Run is free. Participants who register for the 5K by midnight on November 9 are guaranteed a race T-shirt; shirts and requested sizes may be limited for later registrations. Awards include a turkey for first place, a ham for second place, and a pie for third place in each age division. Overall male and female winners and Masters winners ages 40 and older also receive a turkey and medal. The awards presentation is scheduled for 10:30 am.

The event also includes a food drive benefiting the Hays County Food Bank. Participants and supporters are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item or make a donation to help local families during the Thanksgiving holiday season.

The race takes place at First Baptist Church on McCarty, 325 W. McCarty Lane in San Marcos, Texas. For registration and additional details, visit the Thankful Turkey 5K & Kids Run event page.
